weekend wrap up

December 14, 2009

Good Morning! Hope you all had a fab-o weekend.

Friday night I went to mi parentals casa and instead of dumplings they made baozis. A baozi is a steamed filled bun. You can fill it with whatever you want really. I love how little they are. My grandma filled hers with pork cabbage carrots, and i’m not sure exactly what else.

She made a tonnnnn.

Saturday night was a holiday party at my old house! It was my old roommate Ashley’s birthday too so it was a combined party. Love girls nights πŸ™‚

At one point I tried to be funny and cross my eyes during a picture…. and this was the result.

Not exactly sure how that happened, but at least one eye ball looks like it tried to cross itself? The zoolander face ? No clue. haha

My grandmother and mom did make dumplings on Saturday and froze some extras for me to take home. They have a specific boiling technique which I find interesting. You boil your pot of water, add your dumplings, bring to boil, add cold water, bring to boil again, add cold water, bring to boil again and voila! They’re ready. I had a few with a soy sauce/sriracha sauce combo. Love the spice! these are the most amazing dumpings everrrrrrrr. no lie.

Sunday night was spent doing a little baking for work. It was my turn to bring in some goodies so I baked up some peanut butter cookies and some supercharge me cookies from eat, drink, and be vegan. This was my first time making the supercharge me cookies and they were delicious! Healthy and tasty, they were the perfect combo of oats, craisins, and chocolate πŸ™‚ I’ll be making another batch for myself very soon!

Have a wonderful day!

YUM baozi and jiaozi!! I love ’em both!!! My favorite baozi mix is actually 100% veggie – filled with shredded cabbage, vermicelli noodles, marinated tofu, and shredded carrots! Your grandma’s is obviously the most popular in Asia, i’m SOOO excited to go home and eat some goodies. Mmmmm

I love your cross eyes pictured. hahahah That’s actually really cute. πŸ™‚ If only everyone else tried to do what you did!!!! πŸ˜›
