here we goooo

June 29, 2009

Hi all πŸ™‚ This weekend was so much fun ❀

My birthday is this coming up wednesday and my parent’s gave me an early birthday gift….

garmin

TA DA!Β  the garmin forerunner 305! I’m so so so excited because this week is the beginning of my half marathon training program. I tested it out saturday morning and loved it. I loved all the stats it gave me, and how it showed my pace througout the run. There’s so much to learn about it, but I can’t wait to figure it all out! This is going to give me the extra oomph I’m going to need for this half. I’m nervous about it, bc running has seemed extra hard lately with the weather, but i’m excited about pushing myself and learning my limits and exceeding the expectations I have always had about me and running. This is a lifelong goal that I am so anxious for its ridiculous. Training begins today…. here we gooo!

This Saturday morning after my run I headed to a new local farmers market about a mile away from my house. My roomie Lauren and I got to walking, and checked out the goods. We picked up some sweet corn, cherries, a pastry from the bakery stand, and some fresh squeezed lemonade. On the way home we decided to walk through a beautiful neighborhood and ended up at a beautiful part of the harbor. It was absolutely gorgeous. We relaxed and chatted and soaked up some sun. It was a beautiful morning.

While we were relaxing we saw a lady riding a scooter and scootin her little shitzu along with her. This cracked me up! She said that the pup would get tired from walking too long, but her other dog loveeed long walks so she would sit him on the scooter and ride him around. She said he absolutely loved it. Look at his face, ah so ridiculously cute. Jasmine, this reminded me of Lily πŸ™‚

I met up with my mom and my sister at a local greek restaurant for dinner and had the chicken souvlaki platter with sauteed summer squash. This is always my g0-to here, and its got some amazing flavor. My sister got the same meal and we boxed up our leftovers and had practically a full dish left. They give you so much food here!

yay for getting a garmin as an early birthday gift! I can’t imagine how helpful its going to be with your training.

i was just on f-book and it said your birthday is this wednesday!!! I didn’t know!

that shih tzu looks sooo much like my Lilly =) funny thing is that Lilly would get tired of walking too, so I was just thinking about getting a stroller for her, that way I could walk longer and also have something to lean on – haha

Your trip looks and sounds like so much fun, I would’ve been sad to leave too! 😦 But hopefully you’re enjoying being home, at least the weather has been sort of cooperating around here lately, it was SO nice out today πŸ™‚

What an awesome early Birthday present, too! Perfect for you.

Haha and that pup looks SO content on the scooter! My dog would absolutely love being carted around, but would probably be scared of the sound.

    Enjoy your Monday!

    Love,

Yay for the Garmin gift! I got one a few weeks ago right when I got injured and haven’t been able to use it yet 😦 I know what you mean about how running is so much harder with the weather being hot, I used to wake up before sunrise to avoid the heat. Good luck with your training!

Ashley! It’s been way too long, girlie. Love the photos of the zoo, and Happy (early) Birthday! How exciting that you got a Garmin. I’ve been wanting one of those babies for a long time. My running has REALLY slipped; I am very out of the loop and want to get back into it! Can’t wait to read about your training with your new toy!
