ah i did it!

April 9, 2009

Good Morning!!! Happy Thursday my dears, can’t you just smell Friday? its so closee πŸ˜‰

My sisters coming into town and we’re hopefully going to go to O’s game tomorrow night depending on if it rains or not, then Chase gets in late and he’ll be here the whole weekend! Also my friend Heather will be in town too, so excited for this weekend!

Yesterday I started the day off right with the same breakfast cookie from the day before. I think I’ve finally got it right!! This thing is SO convenient to have ready in the mornings! I had a perfect pink lady apple to get me through till lunch.

I went home for lunch and knew what I wanted… a green smoothie! I was craving one for some reason and whipped one up. This one had 1 c almond milk, kale, 1 tbsp flax, 1/2 banana, 1 date, 1/2 canned peach, 1/4 avocado. This combo was alright… tasted very greeeen! The date did a good job of sweetening it up though. I’m going to have to keep playing around with different combos till I find some that really work and taste great. This did the trick though and kept me full for a long time! Later on I snacked on some dry kashi h2h and some raw almonds.

After work I headed on back to Columbia to feed the fish for my parents. I found a packageee outside of the door! Sami from MyWayCereal had been so generous to give me an $18 gift certificate to try out their website! As soon as I got the go I placed my order probably with the first 2 minutes haha. They have an awesome selection of different options to choose from. I decided to make 1 perfect mix and then use the rest of the money to make a less crazy one. Enter Tropic Thunder…. πŸ™‚ This had a base of multigrain harvest, dates, mango, chia seeds, coconut and macadamia nuts. heaven? yes! I had a little bit of money left over so I wanted to make a simple granola. This one I named Sweet, and it contained Vanilla Crunch Granola, and dried cranberries. Of course I had to try it as soon as I opened up the box! I didn’t open up the sweet granola yet, these are HUGE tubes! I immediately popped open Tropic Thunder. Not to toot my own horn but this was an awesomeee mix πŸ˜‰ Of course I think so just because it was completely customized to me! The multigrain harvest is perfectly crunchy and the add ins are perfect and add a touch of sweetness. I highly suggest making your own cereal with them, and they also wanted to offer all of my readers a 10% discount when you place an order by using the coupon code “DAILYGOODS“. Let me know if you guys try them out! i wanna know what kind of mixes you come up with! πŸ™‚ Thanks Sami! I love it!!

After I did a little bit of snackin on the goodies I got myself together and put foot to pavement and started my run. In my head I wanted to run 6 miles, and I wanted to write it in my post yesterday but I was just scared that if I didn’t do it I would have let myself down and didn’t want to put it out there. Well…. I DID IT! I ran 6 miles!!! 6.25 to be exact! I can’t believe ittttt. The last mile was hard for me, but the whole time I kept thinking wow I can’t believe i’m actually doing this. I”m going to do 6 miles. Last fall there was no way I thought I could run 3. I would run a 2 mile loop around my neighborhood and have to stop a few times and be so happy when the run was over. I can’t believe the progress that is possible. This has eased my mind so much about my 10k next week! Now i’m more excited than freaked πŸ™‚ Thanks for being such a strong support system for me, you really have helped me in this journey sooo much!

Since my parents are in Florida there wasn’t really any food at the house. I decided to get some Afghan takeout! I hadn’t had this in forever! I ordered the veggie platter and oh how I missed this. It contained baby pumpkin, chickpea curry, spinach, potato and pea curry, rice, eggplant and green peppers, and their AMAZING tandoori bread! I practically licked my plate when I was done! I saved some for lunch today and am seriously drooling thinking about it. This place is so so good!

When I got back to my place in Baltimore I did a little Yoga For Runners from my lovely friend Polly! This was exactly what I needed. Thanks Pol!

Today is going to be a beautiful day here in Baltimore! Around 60 degrees! I think its supposed to rain the next few days though, so today will be throughly enjoyed! Hope you guys have a great day!!!

Your Afghan takeout looks amazing. I could probably be happy just eating that awesome bread!! Great job on the run! You will totally rock the 10K. The last one I did involved a guy who was joggling (juggling while running in case you haven’t encountered jogglers…). A 10K is a pretty long distance for me, and he helped to keep me entertained. He also ran faster than I did while he was juggling. Ha!

The green smoothie looks awesome. I really need to try one sometime. I don’t think I’ve ever had Afghan food before, but if it’s anything close to Indian food, I’m sure I’d love it.

Hope you enjoy the day! It’s about 60 here, too! πŸ™‚

Hey! I just now noticed your post on my about me post! Thank you so much for the warm welcome πŸ™‚ I love the blogging community so much! Your blog is so neat, I really enjoy it. Congrats on that run – and I love tandoori bread – I agree – it’s delicious! Unfortunately I can’t find it anywhere around here anymore…they used to have it at this little natural market near my house, but they stopped selling it fresh-baked.

So you’re an MD girl too? Awesome! πŸ™‚

    Love, Meg

AHH!! CONGRATS YOU STUNNA!!! That’s frickin outstanding. I’m the person who’s afraid to run 6 miles. Although, I did run/walk 5, but no matter, 6 seems terrifying.

The Afghan food looks/sounds delicious! OMG MY WAY Cereal??? I LOVE cereal, I can’t believe I haven’t seen this. Alright, I love the discount, but I cannot afford it 😦 Poopsicles.

I hope you have a glorious Friday, my would-be-the-best neighbor πŸ™‚
