now thats much better

February 16, 2009

Hi all!  Hope you all managed to survive Monday. Any lucky ones who didn’t have to work?

Day 1 of my CFW wasn’t as hard as i expected. I didn’t have the urge to cheat although right before work was over i was realllllly craving a bar!!  My usual snack is a piece of fruit, and a baggie of puffins usually. at least some type of carb. Today my snack was pineapple. The cereal this morning held me over pretty well, and the pineapple held me almost until 12. I usually eat my lunch when i get back from the gym around 1 , but today i HAD to eat something. I whipped out my lunch, which was an almond butter on TJ’s sprouted grain bread sandwich. The rest of my snacks for the day included some dried apricots, an apple and some walnuts. Although I laid out some good rules for me to follow as to what i can’t eat this week, i didn’t really think about what i CAN eat, and I needed to prepare much better if i’m going to make it through the week. Luckily, I have someone to ride this train with me. Kaneil from Balance is Best is going to be taking part in CFW and i’m so glad 🙂

By the time work was finished, i was absolutely starving but couldn’t eat much because I had to go to my Bikram class about an hour later. I came home, and had a slice of sprouted grain bread with some hummus. It did its job and held me over until the end of class!! very  impressive because at the time i really thought i was going to eat a house.

Bikram was AWESOME tonight. I love this place so much more than the one that I tried earlier in Baltimore. The instructor really made it a strong point that beginners should go at their own pace and not push themselves too hard and worry about others and their abilities. It seemed like in the other studio people were trying to out do the other students and see who could do the better pose. I loved  the pace of this class, the instructor, the studio, and the great intro price. I stayed in the room the ENTIRE time too! That was my 1 goal for tonights class, and i’m so happy that i did it. I’m really looking forward to this 10 day pass, and am planning on going as much as possible during that time.

After I got out of yoga,  i decided i better get some food or i’ll never be able to survive CFW. I headed to TJs and picked up a few items to last me a little while.  Another loaf of their sprouted wheat berry bread, ( i think i like it better than ezekiel!) some zucchinis, mushrooms, brown rice, sweet potatoes, sprouts, ww couscous, almonds, brussell sprouts, spinach, and some peaches in white grape juice.

When I came home, i wasn’t as hungry as I thought i’d be. I had a side spinach salad with some goddess dressing, and made some sweet potato black bean patties a la Caitlin from Healthy Tipping Point. I made 3 of them, and had one tonight. It was really good, i am loving the combo of the two ingredients. It is so simple too, just add them together and throw the on the skillet. I am going to have the other 2 for my lunch tomorrow and i’m hoping it will keep me satisfied till work is over, Surprisingly, when I was finished eating I didn’t even want any type of dessert. Very strange. I had planned on having a few slices of the peaches I just bought, but I wasn’t even in the mood.Overall, CFW day 1 went pretty well. I’m hoping for a great week to come!

Great first CFW day!! Wow – you’re my hero. No desserts? No frozen? No refined carbs. I’d starve! Keep it up girl! And glad you liked your new class – definitely leave the competitiveness for work or school or something – who needs it while they’re exercising, too? Not me! 🙂

I totally thought your sweet potato black bean patty was a chocolate chip cookie!!! It looked all moist and chewy, then I realized that probably wasn’t part of CFW and double checked to make sure it was the spbb patty!

I’m glad you liked Bikram! I’m afraid of the hot room because I’m really sensitive to heat (terrible thing when living in Florida!), but maybe I’d be able to do it with enough hydration!
